Hi! I’m Erika Huyck and I am excited to continue being a part of the Wims community for the start of my 19th year teaching!

 

I am a graduate of UNCG in Greensboro, NC where I received my Bachelor’s in Science for Elementary Education with a minor in Psychology. I am also certified in ESOL and am a National Board Certified Teacher.  I received my masters degree from Johns Hopkins in technology for education in 2005.  I won the Outstanding Teacher as a Leader of the year award in 2022 for the state of Maryland.

I was born and raised in Silver Spring and graduated from Kennedy HS.  I have taught at Fields Road ES, Rachel Carson ES and Wilson Wims. Throughout these years I have taught 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th grade.

I have three children James (15), Trent (13) and Genevieve (11).  We love to ski, hike, wake surf, and play with our dragon. We have a bearded dragon named Keiko. I am very excited to be teaching 5th grade ELC this year.
